Avery Lake on Culture et confiture (Radio-Canada)

I recently had the chance to join Culture et confiture on Radio-Canada’s ICI Première to talk about my latest exhibition, Becoming Andy. To chosen Singularity.
This exhibition explores identity, reproduction of artworks, and what it means to be human in an age where machines can generate anything.
“Ten years ago, I completed a PhD in bioethics. I saw years of thought replicated by machines in seconds. That moment raised a deeper question: what comes after disruption? This project is my unfolding response.”
At the heart of Becoming Andy. To chosen Singularity is a simple but innovative idea: every work remains unfinished until it is chosen. Rather than endless replication, the series invites us to come back from the infinite to the singular: to let one version matter.
The interview dives into the philosophy behind the project, and how it connects art, technology, and the human choices that give meaning to creation.
